As part of its Academic Delivery Plan, Keele University has identified sport as a thematic area for major programme development. The University has now established a diverse suite of new sports programmes to complement Keele’s current portfolio of internationally recognised high-quality education, one of which is the BSc in Sport and Exercise Science.

Keele seek an ambitious Programme Director to expand the Allied Health Professions portfolio further complementing the School’s research and teaching excellence reputation. We are seeking individuals who can lead the validation, development and delivery of our BSc in Sport and Exercise Science and contribute to the development of our other new sport programmes. Not only playing a key strategic role developing the BSc Sport and Exercise programme, the post-holder will also work closely with staff leading the existing BSc in Rehabilitation and Exercise. They will be able to demonstrate a track record of consistent contribution to the development of sport and exercise science courses.

They will have substantial experience of both teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students and supervising research projects. The successful candidate will be an experienced academic in sport and exercise physiology, biomechanics, psychology or a relevant discipline; have experience of curriculum development and leadership on sport courses; and have links to, and experience of, sport and exercise industries.

The post-holder will join a dedicated group of 65 AHP academic staff; enthusiastic educators, researchers and scholars, in the growing School of Allied Health Professions (SAHP). Internationally recognised for offering high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate provision, in addition to the BSc Rehabilitation and Exercise Science programme, the School offers a range of novel pre-registration AHP programmes including sector-leading physiotherapy, radiography, prosthetics and orthotics, and occupational therapy educational programmes. Keele’s AHP research is 7th (out of 89 UK Universities); the majority deemed to be world-leading, or of international importance (REF 2021).

Dedicated sport and exercise science laboratories are in development, which will further enhance the Faculty’s extensive specialist resources which include: a bespoke health simulation suite, digital imaging suite; state-of-the-art anatomy facilities; a bespoke gait/motion analysis laboratory; plaster workshop; prosthetics/orthotics machine room and patient assessment suite, physiotherapy and rehabilitation campus clinic; in addition to two “health houses” on campus with live screening facilities.
