The School provides contemporary and relevant programmes to pre-registered and registered health and social care professionals at various levels, seeking to ensure that all meet the needs of stakeholders and regulators.

The BSc (Hons) Nursing (Adult) is a full-time pre-registration course leading to registration as an adult nurse with the NMC. It is a large course with an annual intake exceeding 250 students, and as such is allocated two external examiners. The course has one point of entry per academic year, in September and operates on a semester calendar. Examination boards are in February and July.

Due to one current external examiner needing to resign we need a replacement external examiner to be in place for the 2022-23 academic year. Due tenure completion by the other of our existing External Examiners we will need to recruit another external examiner for the 2023-24 academic year. The newly appointed examiners will be responsible for a range of modules within the programmes and will be required to sit on module and progression & award examination boards. The tenure period will also include the next periodic course review (revalidation) for the adult nursing course and external examiner input will be required into that process, which is due to complete in September 2024.

We welcome applications from subject specialist academics with experience of adult nursing pre-registration education.

Applications are sought from academics registered with the NMC and holding a higher degree qualification. Experience as a subject or programme manager is particularly welcome. Experience of external examining is not essential.

The first appointment starts in the academic year 2022-23 for a four-year term.
The second appointment starts in the academic year 2023-24, also for a four-year term.
